What Is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is not only to straighten snaggletooth but also fix temporomandibular disorder, jaw asymmetry and prognathism, so that your jaw can work properly.

The goal of orthodontics

  • 01

    Improving teeth function

If you can't chew well with malocclusion, it can be fixed through correction treatment.

  • 02

    Improving esthetic aspect

With snaggletooth, a shape of face and lip could be looked strange or awkward. They can be improved by correction treatment and help you overcome complex with your appearance, even raise your self-confidence. Or if jaw grows excessively or insufficiently, it ruins the balance of a face and causes prognathism. In this case, you need even surgical treatment.

When to Get Orthodontics

There isn't specific time for orthodontics.
However, it's false that you have to get it after all of permanent tooth come out. For children, it depends on the type of malocclusion.

It can be separate as wrong teeth arrangement, jaw issue or both.

With wrong arrangement, the treatment is available any time after 12-13 years of age, when all permanent teeth come out.

It starts before then, around 7-8 years old, when a child has malocclusion or there isn't enough space to have all of permanent teeth For adults,
they can decide when they need it and it doesn't have any relationship between age or when to get the treatment Therefore,
any age is available for orthodontics unless you have serious problem with your jawbone.
